The Best Bike Seat for Dogs

Bike Safely and Easily With Your Dog

Tired of wobbly dog baskets or rear carriers where you cannot see your dog? Discover the Buddyrider dog bike seat that keeps your dog centered and secure.

Why Most Dog Bike Baskets Do Not Work

Many dog bike carriers attach to handlebars or rear racks. That design can make bikes harder to control and less comfortable for pets.

The Buddyrider dog bicycle seat solves this problem by positioning your dog in the center of the bike frame, where the weight stays balanced and the ride feels natural.

Will Your Dog Fit the Buddyrider?

Popular breeds that fit well include Dachshunds, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, Terriers and other small dogs.

Ready to Ride With Your Dog?

The Buddyrider makes it easy to bring your dog along on cycling adventures while keeping the bike balanced and comfortable.

Small dogs love riding close to their owners and many riders find it far more stable than traditional dog baskets.

"Take Your Dog With You — Not Left Behind." Introducing the Buddyrider 2.0: Canada’s Safest Dog Bike Seat

For over 9 years, Moonlight Natural Pet has tested lots of carriers on the market. The Buddyrider 2.0 remains the only centre-mounted seat that keeps your dog secure, balanced, and right between your arms, where they belong.

The Danger of "Wobble Factor"

Why traditional carriers create a safety risk for Vancouver & Canadian cyclists.

The Problem: Leveraged Weight

A 15lb dog in a handlebar basket acts like a lever. Every time they shift their weight, your front wheel pulls. This "steering fight" is the #1 cause of low-speed cycling falls with pets.

"Rear racks and trailers leave your dog out of sight. If they get anxious or tangle their leash, you won't know until it's too late."

The Solution: Zero Steering Impact

The Buddyrider mounts to your seat post, positioning the dog over the bike's centre of gravity. You aren't "carrying" the dog; you are riding with them.

  • No Wobble.
  • No Tipping.
  • Full Communication.

How It Fits: See It In Action

The Buddyrider 2.0 features an upgraded adjustable foot platform that inclines to match your handlebar height perfectly, ensuring your dog sits in a natural, ergonomic position.

E-Bikes, Step-Throughs & Fitment: Your Questions Answered

Can I install the Buddyrider on an E-Bike?

Yes, in most cases. Because the Buddyrider mounts to the seat post rather than the handlebars, it avoids the bulky displays and wiring found on most E-bike cockpits.

Pro Tip: If your E-bike battery is located behind the seat post, ensure you still have at least 1" of clearance on the post for the metal receiver.

Does it work with "Step-Through" or "Low-Step" frames?

Absolutely. In fact, step-through frames are often easier to use with the Buddyrider. However, the seat still requires a minimum of 19 inches of horizontal space between the seat post and the handlebar stem to sit comfortably. You will need the Flex-Arm option. Learn more about Flex-Arm here

What about Dropper Seat Posts?

Use caution. We do not recommend mounting the Buddyrider directly to the "moving" part of a dropper post. If you have a dropper post, you must ensure there is enough of the "fixed" base post exposed to secure the mounting bracket.

Is my dog too small for the standard 2.0 seat?

If your dog is under 12lbs (such as a Chihuahua or Toy Poodle), we highly recommend the Buddyrider Booster Cushion. It elevates smaller dogs so they can see over the edge and keeps them snug so they don't shift during turns.
